Masterclass: Terrace and balcony garden design and planning

In this theoretical-practical course, you will learn the essential steps to design a garden on your terrace or balcony. You can bring an idea you already have and evaluate it with us, or start from scratch in a workshop-consulting format.

What is included in the workshop:

• We will explore garden design concepts adapted to small spaces.
• We will choose plants, materials and decorative elements that maximize the environment.
• We will approach space planning: We will analyze the space to understand its possibilities, taking into account the light and other elements of the environment. We will draw up plans of the space and design the garden according to your needs and preferences.
• We will learn about container and plant selection, as an introduction to plant composition. We will investigate the best container options, considering aspects such as drainage and choosing the right substrate. In addition, we will choose the most suitable plants for your space and climate.
• We'll learn how to make landscape maps and give you an introduction to plant composition to create a harmonious design.

About the teacher:

Jeanette Ramirez is a landscape designer, multidisciplinary artist and educator with over 15 years of experience in conceptualizing, designing and executing garden design projects.  She is the founder of Topic, a landscape and mixed media studio based in Barcelona, working on commissions ranging from garden design to creative projects inspired by nature.

Her background includes collaborations with architects, creative agencies and institutions, which has provided her with an enriched and diverse understanding of the integration of landscape elements in multiple circumstances. Over the past decade, she has collaborated with numerous designers, including Loren Daye (Creative Director of Ace Hotels) ), in both consulting and implementation of garden, landscape and plant design. Jeanette has worked with a diverse collection of brands and institutions, including Dior, Puma, Rakuten, Selfridges, Carhartt, Origo, HAY, Cereal Magazine and the Manchester Museum, among many others.
